Engal Kalam Engal Kanavu (எங்கள் களம்! எங்கள் கனவு!) — Our Space! Our Dream! An online campaign from April 18–23, 2023 challenging women to reclaim public spaces they always wanted to occupy freely.
Participants clicked pictures of themselves occupying and enjoying public spaces — strolling streets at midnight, napping on park benches, sitting in tea shops without worry — then shared on Instagram tagging @thepenncollective, followed by nominating at least 3 other women.
The offline event on April 23, 2023 at Washermanpet, Chennai brought together women from diverse backgrounds who arrived as strangers and left as a community — united in reclaiming their spaces and dreams.
Everyone who came had not known each other before. When they left, they had formed a community of mutual support — united in the struggle against patriarchy, reclaiming their spaces and dreams.
